Appraiser training

We provide a full range of appraiser training options for new and experienced appraisers. To book any of the workshops described below call our client service team on 0117 925 8822.

Please note that Edgecumbe do not run open courses. Our consultants will come to a venue of your choice at a date convenient to you. As a guide, full day workshops cost between £100 and £150 per participant depending on numbers.

In addition you can also expect:

Full colour workbooks containing all workshop material for all workshop participants (at an additional charge).

A free comprehensive evaluation report for each workshop to help you assess the impact of the training.

Printed Certificates of Attendance for each participant to include in their personal portfolio.

Consultancy support before and after each programme, to ensure that your needs are fully met.

Complete skills for appraisers

Essential skills for appraisers

  • Understand the purpose of medical appraisal and how it relates to other management and regulatory processes
  • Understand how to prepare, and help the Appraisee prepare for the appraisal (including supporting evidence)

  • Be able to make sound professional judgements about the appraisee’s supporting information
  • Be able to produce high quality appraisal outputs and documentation
 New Appraisers; Appraisers who have not had training in the last 2 years 1 day 1 tutor per 6 delegates; maximum 12 delegates

Experienced Appraisers (Top-up skills) workshop

To refresh and update knowledge and skills for Medical Appraisers, and to develop skills in managing multi-source feedback
  • Be updated on appraisal developments nationally
  • Strengthen and refresh skills and knowledge in carrying out appraisal for doctors
  • Work with a multi-source feedback (MSF) instrument and practice giving feedback
 Appraisers with at least 1 year’s experience 1 day 1 tutor per 6 delegates; maximum 12 delegates

Essential Skills for Appraisers plus 360° (multi-source) feedback

Update Medical Appraisers with the latest national guidance and to develop skills in giving multi-source feedback.
