Who would benefit

Our approach has been used extensively with leadership teams in the corporate world and has now been successfully applied to NHS Trust Executive Teams. For example, we have worked with a Trust coming to grips with the new world it encountered as a Foundation Trust. A similar approach was very effective in helping another Trust with very significant financial issues to find a way forward uniting the Executive Team behind a new strategy and way of working. The Development Programme has also been of benefit to the senior management teams of Deaneries and Strategic Health Authorities, particularly where relatively new teams are forming and learning how best to work together.

How it works

The Edgecumbe Executive Team Development Programme focuses on the individuals within the Trust leadership team. The programme aligns the team behind one vision, strips away unhelpful agendas and makes team members more aware of their style of working and how it impacts on the team. Barriers come down, people are united and focused on one direction to meet the tough challenges that lie ahead.

The programme is led by highly experienced consultants who have unique experience of both the NHS and the corporate sector. The programme is flexible but intensive and it focuses on the here and now. This is a highly pragmatic approach that gets straight to the core issues and minimises the time your senior people are offline. The programme focuses on three areas: strategic, operational and interpersonal, highlighting the team’s members’ strengths and development priorities in each area. This approach is proven to deliver results almost immediately.

The programme has four key phases:

1. Individual and team assessment
2. Group sessions
3. Individual coaching
4. Group progress review.

Every assignment is unique. An initial meeting will be quickly followed by a clear and comprehensive proposal that will outline how the programme would work for your Trust or Directorate.
