Managing difficult conversations

The thought of having a difficult conversation at work can keep many an experienced manager awake at night. Even at the most senior level, people dread or put off having to discuss a contentious issue or give difficult feedback to a colleague or team member.

Edgecumbe has extensive experience of training senior health professionals (clinicians and managers) in handling challenging conversations in a variety of contexts. This workshop is highly practical, using scenarios based on real examples, and providing scope for participants to bring their own particular challenges.

By the end of the workshop participants will

  • Understand more about the dynamics of conflict and difficult interactions
  • Learn the principles of managing difficult conversations constructively
  • Develop insights into different types of resistance and how to work through and around them
  • Develop skills and strategies to achieve a "win-win" outcome

This workshop works best with smaller groups, enabling more individual skills practice and feedback. We can tailor the workshop format to your needs and budget.
