Our health sector team is a blend of occupational, organisational and clinical psychologists, learning and development professionals and HR consultants. It includes an outstanding group of associate consultants with whom we work on a regular basis.
Dr Jenny King, DPhil, CPsychol, AFBPsS
Health Practice Leader
Experience
Jenny is Practice Lead and a Director of Edgecumbe Health – leading experts in the professional performance of doctors. She is a Chartered Occupational Psychologist, with a doctorate in Psychology from Oxford University, and holds an Associate Fellowship in Executive Education at Oxford University’s Saïd Business School.
Jenny has worked with doctors for most of her career; assessing leadership potential; developing teamworking, troubleshooting in healthcare teams and supporting Trusts to enhance their selection processes for appointing new Consultants. She and her colleagues have been at the forefront of medical appraisal skills training since 2000, and Edgecumbe Health is now recognised as one of the leading providers of such training in the UK, as well as being regular contributors to conferences and expert groups on this topic.
Jenny’s main interest is in the psychological assessment and support of doctors in difficulty. She has been supporting NCAS as a behavioural assessor since 2002, and also provides providing support and workshops for Trusts and Deaneries to manage concerns about individual doctors and clinical teams.
Jenny also brings extensive experience of consulting in the corporate sector, working with national and international companies assessing and coaching senior leaders – largely through the Oxford Saïd Business School.
Dr David Pendleton, DPhil, CPsychol, AFBPsS, (Hon) FRCGP
David is one of the founders of Edgecumbe. He has been consulting in occupational psychology for over 20 years since completing his doctorate at Oxford. He works throughout the world with clients in a wide range of organisations. Most of his work is in top team development and leadership development. He is a specialist in the assessment of business leaders. He is an Associate Fellow of the Saïd Business School, Oxford where he contributes to their executive education programmes. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners in recognition of his early work in the field of doctor patient communication.
Dr Megan Joffe, DPhil, CPsychol, AFBPsS (Clin)
Megan is an organisational and clinical psychologist who works mainly in the assessment and development of senior people, including doctors. She is particularly interested in how the individual and the system influence one another.
Through her work with NCAS and with clinicians from all over the UK, Megan has become a leading authority in Doctors and Teams in difficulty.
Her experience extends to the development of leadership teams, leading change, and experiential learning. She is also an executive coach and facilitator.
Claire Warburton, MSc
Although starting her career in medical microbiology doing research for the MRC, Claire is now a highly experienced Learning & Development and Organisational Development professional who has worked with and within a wide range of internationally recognised organisations such as Astra Zeneca, Glaxo Smith Kline, the Forensic Science Service and the NHS.
Her overarching interest is developing the performance of people throughout organisations in a way that works and is sustainable. An experienced coach, certified Emotional Intelligence practitioner and qualified e.tutor Claire successfully completed her Masters in People and Organisational Development in 2007 and is now a Fellow of the Institute of Occupational Learning.
Claire also has an interest in creating online learning environments to support individual development and is currently Head of Blended Learning Development for Edgecumbe Group.
Jon Cowell, MSc
Jon holds a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Management Development & Organisational Change, both from the University of Bristol. Following a successful consulting career as an occupational psychologist, he was appointed Organisation Development Manager and then Head of Learning & Development for a major UK energy business, from where he joined Edgecumbe in 2008.
His main areas of interest are senior management assessment and development, succession management, employee engagement and organisational change. He has extensive UK and international experience of business integration and reorganisation.
